Microsoft Research announced the launch of Magentic-UI, an open-source research prototype and human-centric AI agent, in a blog post on May 19, 2025. Designed to operate within web browsers, this innovative tool aims to assist users in real-time with complex online tasks, from information search to form filling and dashboard management.

To ensure safety, Magentic-UI uses Docker sandboxing to isolate operations from the host system. Users can set website whitelists to restrict access and terminate tasks instantly.
